It is with great pleasure that we announce that Inquieto Touriga Nacional 2013 was awarded a golden medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competion 2017. A great honour for Douro Prime, seeing for the first time one of our wines being distinguished with the highest level award of this competion.
The International Wine & Spirit Awards competition was the first of its kind, and after 46 years remains the most prestigious and rigorous. The Masters of Wine, sommeliers, buyers, journalists and educators on the panel taste blind from pre-filled glasses – they never see or touch a bottle – and the panel will not give gold medals or trophies if none of the wines score highly enough. Furthermore, and unique to the IWSC competition, the wines are subject to chemical analysis, to be certain of the quality, stability and classification of the wine.
The Judges tasting notes said the following about Inquieto Touriga Nacional 2013: "Deep purple colour; intense blackberry and raspberry fruit with vanilla oak and red rose overlay; elegant palate, dominated by concentrated fruit and gentle oak spice supported by lively acidity and linear tannins, sous-bois adds complexity. Very good aromatic finish. Yummy!"
